Persona
Designs

Project
Personas, often referred to as "user personas", are tools utilized in product design processes to conceive of and anticipate a range of potential users that would most likely interact with the product being made.

Context of Project and Notes on the Term
These designs were created for my own graduate thesis project. Although user personas can be commonplace in product design, the focus of my graduate thesis project was in civic media, namely through a lens of design justice. (To learn more about the field of design justice, visit the Design Justice Network website here). With this in mind, I found the user personas, as well as the term itself, to be too transactional for the purposes of the project. The term simply had too sterile of an affect to align with the design process desired, one in which a primary goal was to humanize the design experience.
